June 1-30: All Iowa Shop Hop - visit area quilt stores and enter for your chance to win one of several prizes! For more information click here

June 1: Stories in the Park - Linnan Park at 10 AM. Hosted by the Clive Public Library and Clive Parks and Recreation, this event brings story-time adventures to your own backyard. Bring a blanket and a picnic lunch. Location and programming changes each month.

June 1: Movies in the Park - Turbo at 8:45 PM at Centennial Park Open Air Shelter in Waukee. Bring a blanket and enjoy a free showing of this Pixar film about a snail with dreams of winning the Indy 500.

June 2: Summer Rocks in Urbandale: Urbandale Public Library from 10 AM to Noon. Music, continuous storytime, unveiling of the "All-Urbandale Reads" book, facepainting, frozen yogurt, and more! For more details click here

June 2: Youth Fishing Derby - Lake Petocka, Bondurant from 8-10 AM.  Open to all youth 15 and under.  Children under 8 must have parental supervision.

June 2: Celebrate Waukee - Centennial Park from 7 AM to 10:30 PM.  Fun for all ages with events ranging from inflatables, face painting, Zounds the Clown, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, an evening beverage garden with music by Dick Danger and 5 Below, and fireworks at the end of the night.

June 3: Mustang Car Show in Historic Valley Junction runs all day.  Open to all Ford powered vehicles, this show attracts vehicles from all over the Midwest.

June 3: Waukee Area Historical Society Cemetery Walk - Waukee Cemetery from 2-3 PM. Learn about what life was like in the early days of Waukee as local residents dress as their ancestors and recount their lives.

June 5: Art Up Close - Meet local photographer Larry Mendenhall at Urbandale Public Library from 6-7 PM

June 8: Mixed Couples Event - Sugar Creek Municipal Golf Course. This 9-hole, two-person scramble event includes greens fees, cart, range balls, appetizers, dinner and prizes. Call the clubhouse at 515-987-5247 for more information and to make reservations. These events occur every two weeks in June and July.

June 9: Pedal Chichaqua Valley Trail - Begins at 7:30 AM, choose your own pace and distance.  For more details click here

June 10: Summer Antique Jamboree in Historic Valley Junction runs all day. The Antique Jamboree is one of the largest outdoor antique shows in the Midwest.  Admission is free and public parking is available.

June 15: BACooN Ride 5 Pre-Party - Centennial Park Open Air Shelter from 5-11 PM.  Kick off the festivities a day early for BACooN Ride 5! Open to all bacon lovers, there will be live music from Pie in the Sky, bacon delicacies from a host of vendors and a beer garden with a variety of local and national brews.

June 16: BACooN Ride 5 - 6 AM to 8 PM beginning and ending at Centennial Park Open Shelter. This ride is up to 71 miles, depending on your route, and travels the Racoon River Valley Trail with numerous bacon stops, a bacon-themed lunch, and numerous drink specials at establishments along the way.  Learn more by clicking here

June 30: Illahee Hills Summer Festival - From 1-5 PM at Illahee Hills Retirement Community.  Bring the whole family for games, activities, prizes, food, and entertainment!  This is a free event.

July

July 3: All Iowa Bash in Historic Valley Junction from 3-11 PM.  Food, drink, crafts, music and more, all from local Iowa vendors.

July 3: Independence Day Parade - Valley High School to Valley Junction in West Des Moines, begins at 6:30 PM.

July 4: Boy Scout Troop 178 July 4th Fun Run 5K - Lutheran Church of Hope Waukee from 8-11 AM. For registration information click here

July 4: Fourth of July Celebration - Centennial Park in Waukee from 3-10 PM. Events include a parade, music, inflatables, food and fireworks.

July 7: Corndog Kickoff - 6 PM at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.  This fun event features Fair foods, Sky Glider rides and fireworks, live and silent auctions with a variety of packages.  All proceeds go to the Blue Ribbon Foundation to preserve and restore the fairgrounds.

July 7: Bondu Blues and Sidewalk Chalk Festival - at the Bondurant Trail Head from 8 AM to 10 PM.

July 11-15: Dallas County Fair - Dallas County Fairgrounds in Adel. Celebrate 4-H and enjoy great fair food and rides on the Midway!

July 13: Inter-generational Day - at the Urbandale Senior Recreation Center from 9 AM to Noon. Bring the kids to see everything the Senior Rec Center has to offer. Activities for all ages will be available, including fitness, arts and crafts, and more. Come and go as you please.

July 14: Waukee Arts Festival - Centennial Park Open Air Shelter and surrounding from 10 AM to 5 PM. Check out local artists, food and beverage vendors, a beer garden and live music throughout the day.

July 18: Meditation Around Town - Lions Park at 6 PM. Enjoy the experience of sharing a simple meditation in the unique surroundings of Lions Park. This is a relaxing and fun-filled experience for everyone.

July 18-23: Polk County Fair - Iowa State Fairgrounds.  "Fun for the Whole Herd". For a schedule of events click here

July 19-21: Clive Festival - at the Clive Aquatic Center. This fun celebration has Iowa's largest Slip 'N' Slide, live music, fireworks, a Kid's Corner, and much more!  Learn more here

July 21: Clive Running Festival - Clive Aquatic Center at 8 AM. Register here for a 5K, 10K, tadpole trot, 1 Mile.  Proceeds go towards improvements of the Clive Greenbelt Trail.

July 26-29: Altoona 150 Celebration - This four day celebration will include live music, local craft food and drinks, Art in the Park, a parade, a 5K, and more!

July 27: Dan Wardell - at the Clive Special Events Building at 9:30 AM or 10:30 AM. Dan Wardell from IPTV Kids will make a special appearance on his 2018 Reading Road Trip Tour to perform back-to-back story times!

July 28: Summer Breeze Run - Battle of the 'Burbs - 7:30 AM to 2 PM at NCMIC Campus. Proceeds benefit the communities of Waukee, Clive and West Des Moines in this 5K, 10K and Kids Fun Run. Register here
